The Thriller dance-off is back in Calgary

You’ve seen it on TV and now you can be a part of it.

On Saturday, thousands of people across the world are gathering in their respective cities to dance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller and break a world record — including right here in Calgary.

“It’s just going to be a lot of fun and people are dressing up and we’re raising money for a good cause,” Calgary organizer TJ Madigan said. “Zombies and Thriller dancing, it’s going to be a blast.”

Madigan hopes more people than last year came out and expects the weather to co-operate on route to blasting the record of more than 22,000 people dancing to Thriller simultaneously across the world in at least 33 cities. The first event started in Toronto with 62 participants.

The Calgary Downtown Association is hosting the event and couldn’t be more “thrilled” about it, according to Janet Jessiman.

“We’re so excited to be a part of this and we invite everyone to come on down and learn the moves and dance,” she said.
