The unique, ‘bad,’ and the hungry

Corn dogs, mini donuts and pizza are staples of the Calgary Stampede so it’s no wonder how many people line up for the delicacies.

John Hsio is an Italian chef but he doesn’t mind eating a little bit of “bad food” at the Calgary Stampede.

“It wouldn’t be good all the time but during the Stampede it’s definitely something I need to eat,” he said about the corn dogs.

“But I also like the deep fried pickles — they are definitely unique and interesting,” he said.

Stampede officials say there are tons of food to try ranging from the normal to the unique like deep fried Oreos — but there is also Greek food, wraps, barbecue and much more to sample.
