The wild party’s upstairs at Underground Garage

The Underground Garage Urban Saloon

Ambience: The Underground Garage’s website sums the place up well: it’s not upscale, it’s a pub, a watering hole, if you will. In other words, it’s the type of place most people go to let loose and enjoy a few beers in an attitude-free environment. The Underground looks like every bachelor’s interior decoration fantasy. But to the chagrin of regulars, a recent flood forced the ownership to move the party upstairs into the space once occupied by the rock bar Route 365 — the move works, maintaining the look and feel of the old space downstairs. Many of the posters and mementos made the trip, as did the affable staff and rock-heavy playlist.

Crowd: Regulars keep the Underground afloat, a clientele including plenty service industry workers and locals. If you’re up for a wild weekend, this might be a place to pay a visit.

Dress code: Wear anything more formal than a T-shirt and jeans and you’ll look out of place. Hip fashions never go out of style at a place like this, so let the style of the day guide your decisions.

Should I dance on the bar?: You could definitely get away with it. In fact, it would probably be encouraged. If you fit the anatomical bill you may even be asked to leave your bra to add to the collection hanging from the ceiling.

Will I get lucky?: There’s definitely a chance, especially on boozy weekends.

Best accessory: A really nice bra – you don’t want to leave just any one behind!

Cocktail du jour: It’s all about beer, shooters and mixed drinks.

Hours: Sunday through Wednesday 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Thursday through Saturday 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
