A 23-year-old man was gunned down in Surrey yesterday, just three days after a gangland-style shooting left two men dead in front of a Vancouver restaurant.
Police don’t know yet if the two shootings are related, as officers continue their investigation.
Sgt. Roger Morrow said that in this latest shooting, the driver of a Jeep Cherokee flagged down a passing police car near the Guildford Town Centre.
When police approached the vehicle officers found a man who looked like he had been shot or stabbed in the passenger seat. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he later died.
According to Surrey RCMP the man is known to police, but his name was not released yesterday.
The Jeep was towed away and is being examined by investigators.
"With regards to the driver, we’ll be speaking with this individual in regards to what happened before he flagged us," Morrow told reporters.
On Saturday night, Ricardo Scarpino and another man were shot dead as they arrived at Scarpino’s engagement party at Gotham steakhouse downtown Vancouver. Police said Scarpino was known for his criminal activities.
