Third time is a charm?

The only thing that makes a boardroom exec’s eyes light up brighter than a sequel is that sequel’s sequel.

The only thing that makes a boardroom exec’s eyes light up brighter than a sequel is that sequel’s sequel. Here’s two recently released titles that are no doubt making some men in suits give one another high-fives.

Killzone 3
Console: PS3
Grade: 4 (out-of-5)

Since the first Killzone was released in 2004, the first-person-shooter genre has become more crowded than Times Square. It takes something special to have a title stand out. Does the third Killzone have what it takes to turn heads? Yes, thanks largely in part to the game’s amazing graphics and realistic controls.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Console: PS3/Xbox 360
Grade: 4 (out-of-5)

Children of the early ’90s were blowing their allowances on two things: fighting games and comic books. By the late 90s, Capcom capitalized on this by releasing the very first Marvel vs. Capcom title. The game featured a stable of Capcom and Marvel all-stars. Now the franchise is back for a third go-around. Is it worth your hard-earned quarters?

Yes, especially for fans of the genre. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is essentially Street Fighter after doing some meth. This title is simply heaven for both fighting junkies and nostalgia hounds.
