More than 7,000 people will gather at the Halifax Common Sunday morning for the annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.
The event is in its 15th year and remains the country’s largest, single-day, volunteer-led fundraising event that is dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer.

Last year’s event in Halifax raised more than $1 million, with the money going to support a wide range of programs in support of a cure.
“This year alone approximately 22,900 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 5,400 will die from it,” Chantal Bernard, volunteer run director for the Halifax Run for the Cure, said in a release. “That’s why we run, (so) please come out and join us Sunday.”
Final registration is 8 a.m. Sunday with the run starting at 10 a.m. An awards and reception will follow at 11:15 a.m.
