You know you’re doing something right when attendees of the Union Gospel Mission’s Thanksgiving dinner show up the following year as volunteers, the Mission’s president said yesterday at the annual turkey dinner.
William Mollard said Thanksgiving dinner — served by caring volunteers in a family atmosphere — really can ignite an individual’s spirit and become a turning point in their life.
“We’re able to connect with (people) and build a relationship and trust,” he said. Mollard said feeding thousands of people in one day should be “pandemonium,” but after so many years it’s become a “well-oiled machine.”
