Polka dot dress by Gutsy Dame.

Plus-Size Fabulousness…

Gutsy Dame, a spunky online store that aims to celebrate the delicious curves of young plus-size women, is definitely a site worth checking out — particularly this week, since quite a few winter pieces have been marked down (some up to 85 per cent off!). The e-boutique showcases saucy wearables from hip Canadian as well as US labels, including Vancouver’s popular BonBon-Plus, Toronto lines MudskipperGirl, Peach Berserk and Poisson, as well as Fashion Overdose and Eunina (both from California).

Gutsy features stylish yet affordable fashions in sizes 1X to 5X (12 – 28), with prices ranging from $20 to $120 — and it ships anywhere in North America for a flat rate of $7. Bonus: those living in the GTA can also opt to visit the showroom in Richmond Hill to try items on with no pressure to buy.

And, right now fab-size femmes can enter to win a $50 gift certificate by sharing tales of their gutsiest moves. Submit a description of your greatest act of courage this year to the “I am a Gutsy Dame” contest by e-mailing: info@gutsydame.com. Entries will be posted on the Gutsy Dame blog with a winner identified in early-March.

Denim trousers by Reitmans.

Buy of the Week:

Reitmans’ denim tousers are about to launch on Monday. These chic and well-cut denims are likely to slip undetected into many offices over the coming months, but they’re so comfy (thanks to just the right amount of stretch) that they are sure to be weekend faves too. While more extreme wide-legged pants have hit other shops, Reitman’s take on the trend is more subtle and flattering (not too high-waisted, not too flared at the hem). Definitely worth a whirl, and a real steal at $36 a pair.

Comparable trouser-style jeans could easily cost you double or triple this wallet-friendly price tag. Bonus: they easily transition into spring, come in three different dye finishes (dark indigo is the most slimming) and this choice cut is available in the petite, regular and plus-size ranges as well.
