Toronto police are looking for a 16-year-old boy who allegedly called school officials at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute, at Don Mills Road and Overlea Boulevard yesterday, saying he had a gun and was going to hurt a 15-year-old female student.
The school was immediately put in lockdown at about 1:20 p.m. and police were called to the scene, said Constable Tony Vella of the Toronto Police.
After an extensive search of the school no evidence of the boy nor a gun was found, according to Vella.
Acting Staff Sgt. Bruce Newman told the Toronto Star the boy is not a student at the school.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, saying they are looking for a “person of interest.”
The whereabouts of the suspect is not known.
Vella said charges will be laid as soon as police identify who made the call. It was unclear if the boy was even at the school, he added. The 15-year-old girl is safe and sound, Vella said.
