Three injured, one critically after underground explosion in Vancouver

An underground explosion Wednesday afternoon has left three B.C. Hydro employees in hospital, one in critical condition.

The three men were working at a switching station, which controls wiring for the city.

The explosion happened beneath the intersection of Seymour and West Georgia streets, and the intersection has since been closed.

Battalion Chief Kelly Mullin of Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services said they are unable to do a complete investigation until BC Hydro gets all the power shut off.
