Three killed in East Van fire

Three men have died in an East Vancouver house fire that investigators say was caused by a faulty extension cord plugged into an old set of Christmas lights.

The fire broke out in a back sunroom being used as a bedroom.

“Vancouver Fire has responded to this house 21 times since May 2007 for various calls, mostly for medical emergencies,” said Capt. Gabe Roder.

“(There was) one small fire on October 2008, a fire that was caused by smoking-related materials.”
