Ontario has reported four more confirmed cases of H1N1 flu virus, better known as human swine flu, over the weekend bringing the total number of cases in the province to 16.

Three of the cases were reported in Toronto, with the other in York region. The province also for the first time confirmed two person-to-person transmissions, where a person picked up the virus from somebody who had been to Mexico.

Lab testing has confirmed the H1N1 flu virus is the same as the one in Mexico and the United States. All 16 confirmed cases are all considered “mild,” said Nesbitt, and did not require hospitalization. Those returning from Mexico and have symptoms of respiratory illness should contact their health care provider.
