Three youth have been charged in relation to a weekend fire at the old Halifax County Rehab Centre on Bisset Road.

The male teenagers, who cannot be named because of their age, were each charged with one count of arson and one count of conspiracy.

Fire crews were called to the old Halifax Rehab Centre in Cole Harbour just before 4 p.m. on Saturday. Sections of the building, which was scheduled for demolition, were completely demolished by the blaze.

RCMP picked up the three boys, who were allegedly seen walking away from the scene of the fire, and laid charges yesterday morning.

Police spokesman Cpl. Scott MacRae said he couldn’t say what the conspiracy charge relates to.

“Most times, it’s any collaboration between more than one person in trying to either deceive or avoid criminal prosecution,” he said, adding collectively planning to set the fire could also be considered conspiracy.
