A movie theatre may have a booming sound system and a screen the size of a house but sometimes the ease of watching a film in the comfort of your own living room wins out.

“The key to achieving a true theatre experience at home is choosing the right entertainment system for the size of your space, your level of technology know-how, and the everyday needs of your family,” says Barry Murray, director of marketing at Panasonic Canada.

He suggests looking for a system with surround-sound, true-to-life colour and HD capabilities.

“Also, think about whether the system will be used for gaming or music - there are many products available today that offer a variety of functions, like networking capabilities and iPod compatibility.”

With the right tools not only can you recreate the movie theatre experience but make it even better; at home you can press pause and go to the kitchen to refill the chip bowl.
