Ken-Wo’s Ally Tidcombe has shouldered River Hills’ Aaron Nickerson out of the lead after two rounds at the Nova Scotia Golf Association men’s amateur championship.
Tidcombe fired his second straight 2-under 71 on Thursday at the Osprey Ridge Golf Club in Bridgewater, pulling past Nickerson by three strokes at the 72-hole event.
Nickerson suffered an 11-stroke drop-off, going 5-over 77 to sit tied for second with club-mate Jody Swim with two-day totals of 145. Ashburn’s Glenn Robinson (75-146) and Abercrombie’s Brian Affleck (76-146) round out the top-five.
At the Grandview Golf and Country Club in Westphal, Ken-Wo’s Laura Harris lost a little ground atop the women’s amateur leaderboard after shooting a 10-over 82. Defending champion Mireille LeBlanc of Clare had a 7-over 79, pushing her two-day total of 164 to within seven strokes of Harris’s 157.
Ashburn’s Cathy Donald continues to hold down third spot after shooting a 12-over 84 for a two-round 170.
Also at Grandview, two-time defending champ Kathy Powers of Bluenose has a six-stroke lead after the first round of the senior women’s championship. She was 6-over 78.
