The red carpet battle lines have been drawn as the Toronto International Film Festival hits the big scene, yet again, with 10 days of world premieres.
Forget the films, it’s all about the non-stop cocktail galas, celebrity spotting and after-party schmoozing that will have you wondering which party to crash. Here’s a party survival guide for the first night of festivities.
Things get underway with TIFF’s annual cocktail party at the Rosewater Supper Club on Toronto Street. Local celebrities and industry insiders raise a glass in the hopes the film festival will bring them one step closer to Hollywood. The glass raising starts at 5 p.m.
Astral Media continues its festival tradition with the opening gala night cocktail for the film, Creation, at Roy Thompson Hall. The black-tie gathering kicks off at 5:30 p.m. followed by the very informal after-party at the Liberty Grand at 10 p.m.
If you’re looking to go to a party that’s a little meatier, than Year of the Carnivore celebrates its opening night at Rolly’s Garage on Ossington. Canadian starlet Sook-Yin Lee will be revving things up. Party kicks into high gear at 10 p.m.
