A Serious Man
Rating:
**** 1/2

There were a lot of mixed reviews about last year’s Burn After Reading, but there should be no doubt that the Oscar-winning Coen brothers have returned to form with A Serious Man.

Set in 1967, the quirky, philosophical comedy focuses on a meek Jewish physics professor whose sudden bad luck sends him into a spiritual abyss.

Ditching big stars in favour of lesser-known Yiddish thespians gives the superb comedy an added authenticity.
