Easy A

Director: Will Gluck
Stars: Emma Stone, Thomas Haden Church, Patricia Clarkson

A surprisingly hilarious comedy about a good girl (Emma Stone) willfully accepting a less than ladylike reputation at her school to help her fellow rejects and create some semblance
of a social life. The script is filled with loving nods to the ’80s teen flicks of John Hughes and The Scarlet Letter, and it’s a mini-miracle that the resulting film doesn’t crumble under the invited comparisons. All credit goes to a playful and talented cast as well as a team of
filmmakers who somehow found life left in the high-school comedy. Some overly knowing Diablo Cody-esque dialogue aside, this is far more fun than it should be
