Timeless townhomes

Modern times call for a modern style, especially one that aims for timelessness.

Modern times call for a modern style, especially one that aims for timelessness.

With a site that includes a 22-storey condominium tower and 28 townhomes, Savvy Condominiums aims to live up to its name by offering designs that show off a modern sensibility without sacrificing timeless elegance.

Mimi Ng, vice-president of marketing at Savvy developer Menkes, says from day one the goal with Savvy townhomes and suites has always been to offer uncompromising design not bogged down by fleeting trends.

“It’s a very clean, modern, sophisticated look. It’s meant to look timeless and classic,” Ng said.

While buyers can have their choice of finishes, the model kitchen shows off a modern look that avoids overstating its modernity, as dark cappuccino coloured cabinetry melds with the sheen of stainless steel appliances to suggest an understated elegance. It’s a minimalist, unintrusive sense of style meant to stay relevant for the long term.

“The colour palette and accessorizing is very clean and minimal. It’s not something that’s very trendy or faddish — it’s something that that’s going to age well,” Ng said.

Savvy is a “Menkes Green” community, meaning all townhome units and condominium suites feature environmentally conscious details like dual-flush toilets, low-flow showerheads and faucets and double-glazed low-emissivity windows for superior energy efficiency and better insulation.

Amenities throughout the development include private dining, games and theatre rooms, an indoor pool, a landscaped patio with natural stone waterfall, bookable guest suites and a fitness centre complete with men’s and women’s saunas and change rooms. For townhome owners not accustomed to such luxuries, Savvy’s additions of condo pleasures to townhome living is a definite plus.

“You’re going to be able to have your own private retreat in the city and at the same time you’ll have access to all the amenities and services that a condominium dweller would have access to. It’s the best of both worlds,” Ng said.

The first batch of Savvy townhomes went on sale in June and sold out virtually overnight.

“The market response was fantastic — it was a response to the location and convenience of Yonge and Sheppard. The location makes sense,” Ng said.

The second townhome release is not available yet but will go on sale later this Fall, while condo suites are already available for purchase. Townhomes range from 1,720 to 2,500 square feet and are priced from $559,990. Condo suites run from 570 to 1,030 square feet and are priced from $274,990. For more details, check www.menkes.com
