While Ms. Dobby presents some valid points, we should remember that if GM had built more reliable products, we might not all be in this position of having to support a company that did not consider the consumer when manufacturing its products.
I, for one, am tired of footing the bill to pay for others’ mistakes, greed and retirement, as every Ontario taxpayer should be. Let us not forget we are still paying the Debt Retirement Charge forced on us by Ontario Hydro more than 10 years ago.
Will this be the same with GM pension payments? And at what point is GM responsible for its employees’ pension? Unlike GM autoworkers, I do not have a generous company retirement plan and am finding it difficult to save for my “golden” years. So who will pay for my retirement/pension?
