Gone (thankfully) are the days of cheap plastic chairs scattered across the patio.
Today’s deck spaces have taken on the look of the living room, as stylish comfort moves to the outdoors, with soft, water-resistant sofas, cushy and cute pillows, and attractive lighting.
“A great patio (set-up) would be comfortable seating mixed in with really nice greenery to kind of give the patio a zen feeling,” says Alan Wilson, owner of Vancouver’s Industrial Revolution.

Wilson says a mixture of different seating types — bar-height or low beanbag chairs — is ideal.
“More and more people are going with soft seating for outdoors … as well as cantilevered umbrellas to shade the sun and create an awning effect,” says Wilson.
