Tories accuse Pupatello of running up $128K travel bill

Opposition politicians accused International Trade Minister Sandra Pupatello yesterday of living the high life on taxpayers’ money, a practice they said she condemned before the Liberals came into power.

The Progressive Conservatives said Pupatello ran up a $128,000 travel bill in just one year, and complained that in the past she verbally attacked Tory cabinet minister Cam Jackson for his expenses.

“What goes around comes around,” said Opposition Leader Bob Runciman.

Pupatello’s office said the minister spent only $52,000 on travel in the past year and the rest was spent by her parliamentary assistant on other trips or a staff member who travels with the minister or assistant.
