TORONTO - Toronto FC forward Chad Barrett has been named Major League Soccer's player of the week for Week 17 of the 2009 season.

Barrett scored two goals in Toronto FC's 3-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday.

This is the first player of the week award for the 24-year-old native of San Diego.

Barrett is in his first full season with Toronto FC after joining the club midway through the 2008 campaign. Barrett has eight goals and six assists in his 30 appearances with Toronto.

Also Monday, the MLS announced Toronto FC midfielder and Toronto native Dwayne De Rosario was voted on to the MLS all-star team, which will face English Premier League team Everton FC on Wednesday, July 29.
