Toronto Mayor Rob Ford admits to smoking crack cocaine

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford made a surprise admission that he had smoked crack cocaine.

Though he has denied smoking crack cocaine in the past, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford admitted at a surprise news conference that he has indeed used the drug, reports the Toronto Star. He added that it was probably "in one of my drunken stupors."

“Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine," Ford told reporters. “I am not an addict."

Ford claimed that he never lied about not smoking crack cocaine. “I wasn’t lying. You didn’t ask the correct questions,” he said.

Ford added that he had smoked crack about a year ago and barely remembers the experience. Reporters pointed out that they asked him many times in the spring if he had ever smoked crack. Yesterday, Ford dodged questions about his use of crack cocaine and simply said he wasn't an addict.

Ford also said he doesn't remember being recorded and would like to see the tape.

He apparently asked reporters to ask him the same questions they asked him in May, prompting his admission.
