Toronto police raid ‘pure drug den’ in Chinatown

An early morning raid in a Chinatown retail and office complex has shut down an illicit “drug den,” police said.

Around 2:30 a.m. yesterday, vice and drug squad officers used a search warrant to raid the club, on the second floor of an office and retail complex that also houses the Lucky Moose Food Mart, at Dundas and Beverly streets.

About 85 people were at the club, called the Film Lounge, when police arrived.

“The entire operation was under the table,” said Det. Frank Giancola. “It didn’t have a liquor license — it was a pure drug den.”

Giancola said the club had been operating for about a year.
