Trade Centre executive Ferguson made interim head

Trade Centre Limited has promoted one of its top executives to the role of interim president and CEO after the departure of Fred MacGillivray.

Scott Ferguson, current executive vice-president of TCL, will take over the role until a permanent successor is appointed. However, that successor could still be Ferguson himself.

“I’ll wait and see what the process is. But I’m certainly very interested, obviously, in that role, and would appreciate any opportunity,” he said Tuesday.

In the meantime, Ferguson said he will continue to follow the business strategy developed two years ago of trying to bring in major international business, such as large-scale events.

“We’ve made some great headway, especially in the last few years, on aligning our organization here to focus on more events and more of a benefit stream for the community,” he said. “My focus is going to be to continue to strengthen that.”

Ferguson said there is currently no timeline for appointing a permanent president and CEO.
