Training important in poor economy

Losing your job doesn’t mean losing your skills — it might just mean it’s time to put those skills to work in a new way.

With more people becoming unemployed in the economic crunch every month, prospects for finding work in the same industry you just left are looking dim. Luckily, retraining is always an option.

Jason Johnston, a manager at career training and education institute triOS College, says retraining in the bad economy is more important than ever. Employment in the types of fields triOS trains for such as technology, health care and finance is still booming.

“We’re not noticing a decline or loss of momentum in our graduate employment rates,” Johnston said.

With eight campuses across Southern Ontario (see trios.com), programs at triOS like the Accounting and Payroll Administrator diploma program are more popular than ever, since there is always a need for these types of jobs.
