Still haven't finished (or started) your holiday shopping? Dana Holmes, editor-in-chief of Gifts.com, spends her day forecasting gift trends. She has an expert eye for finding the perfect gift for every person and is sharing her thoughts on presents this season.
The broach is back, ladies. A few years ago, scarves were popular accessories for women. Now it’s all about the elaborate pins, says Holmes. Wear one alone or wear a collection on a jacket.

Having the newest gadget isn’t enough — how you accessorize it is what really matters. A big trend this holiday season is toys that work with touch-screen phones and tablets to make the gaming experience more realistic. “There’s an iPad dock that turns it into a pinball machine,” Holmes says. “It’s totally addicting.”

For the person who already has it all
Some people are impossible to shop for; Holmes recommends brainstorming ahead of time for these difficult folks — and not letting green be your guide. “Think about the person’s personality and know you don’t have to spend a lot of money on people who have everything,” Holmes says.
Holmes says products made in the U.S.A. are very trendy. Websites such as Etsy.com have made purchasing local products much easier. “People are paying more attention to where things are made,” she says.
In addition to having a shopping list when hitting the stores, Holmes says to keep your budget top of mind. “Remember: Your shopping budget is not a goal,” Holmes says. “You don’t have to reach that number.”
