Tussle over injured dog

The Toronto Humane Society is embroiled in a dogfight over custody of a tiny white poodle with a badly broken leg and a hefty veterinary bill.
The poodle’s original owner, 30-year-old Tricia Richards, said Prince was accidentally signed over to the Toronto Humane Society by a dog sitter after the dog was almost killed by a hit-and-run driver in late March.
Lee Oliver of the Toronto Humane Society said Richards’ story is confusing and appears to change.
What they do agree on is that the tiny poodle was hit by a car in late March and needed more than $5,000 in emergency care to repair a leg that was broken in two places.
Now the Toronto Humane Society says Richards can get Prince back — if she pays $3,000 toward the vet bill.
