TV ratings far better than ’08

There won’t be a Game 7 tonight, but the World Series has still certainly come through for Fox.

The series averaged 18.7 million TV viewers through five games. That’s 36 percent better than the 2008 Phillies-Tampa Bay snoozer, which drew an average of 13.6 million.

Monday’s Game 5 of the World Series even outdrew ESPN’s “Monday Night Football,” 17.1 million to 12.4 million.

Of course, even Game 5’s 9.6 rating pales in comparison to the 1970s and ’80s, when a 25 was common.
