TV’s ‘Cash Cab’ kills Vancouver pedestrian

A 61-year-old man was hit and killed by a replica taxi used in the Canadian version of the TV game show “Cash Cab” late Friday night in the Downtown Eastside.

Andrew Burnstein, president of Castlewood Productions Inc., said in a statement the team sends out thoughts and prayers to the Surrey man and his family.

The incident happened in the 200-block of East Cordova Street as a crew member drove the mock cab back to a storage facility after filming.

Vancouver Const. Lindsey Houghton said the driver remained at the scene and has been co-operating with police as the case remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, a 34-year-old woman is recovering in hospital after allegedly being struck by a hit-and-run driver Saturday morning on Main Street near 60th Avenue.

Police are searching for a dark coloured 2003-2007 Nissan Murano with front-end damage, including a broken headlight.
