Two arrested after Dartmouth robbery

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a robbery that took place at a Dartmouth gas station early Thursday morning.

Halifax Regional Police say the woman entered the Petro Canada gas station on Portland Street around 3:30 a.m. She allegedly threatened the staff with a knife before taking off with cash and two cordless phones.

Police spokesman Const. Brian Palmeter said the suspect was arrested a little while later near the corner of Main and Major streets.

As a result of the investigation, a second suspect was also taken into custody in connection to the robbery. Palmeter said the suspect, a 26-year-old man, was arrested at the scene.

Both suspects appeared in court Thursday. Police say the woman is facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, possession of a weapon, and breaching her court-conditioned release. The man is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, two counts of mischief and breaching his court-conditioned release.
