Two arrested in counterfeiting at Vanier motel

Two people have been arrested in relation to counterfeiting at a Vanier motel, police said today.

On Sunday, officers received information about a female involved in counterfeiting money. After an investigation at a Vanier motel, they arrested two adults.

Seized at the time of arrest was counterfeit currency and peripheral materials utilized in the manufacturing of counterfeit Canadian money.

A 48-year-old Ottawa woman has been charged with making and possessing counterfeit money, possession of instruments for counterfeiting, attempting fraud not exceeding $5,000, and possessing proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.

A 41-year-old Ottawa man is charged with possession of instruments for counterfeiting, possession of cocaine, breaching probation, attempting fraud not exceeding $5,000, possessing proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000, and making and possessing counterfeit money.

Kimberly Lavergne and Sylvain Leonard appear in court at a later date.
