Two men accused of beating a 19-year-old Tamil man to death in a Scarborough plaza last week have been charged with first-degree murder.

Detectives are now on the hunt for at least two other suspects, possibly a third.

“What their role is has yet to be determined. These parties, (especially) if their role is minimal or they were just there, we would ask they contact me or have their lawyer contact me,” said Det. Sgt. Dan Nielsen.

Annu Indrakanthan, who family describe as a quiet guy who spent most of his evenings playing video games, stopped at a Scarborough plaza for some lunch on July 20. Police allege what happened next was a planned and targeted attack.

According to witnesses, two men approached him then beat him with an edged weapon and blunt instrument. They were seen fleeing the Bonis Avenue plaza in a white Ford Contour, which police now say was on a short-term lease with a Toronto dealer.

Within hours, police had located the car. One of the men now accused in Indrakanthan’s death, 21-year-old Vikas Dahiya, was taken into custody that same day, but he was later released. The other accused is Antriksh Singh, 19, who also goes by the name Andre. Detectives are trying to determine a motive.
