Two children injured falling from trees

Two children fell from trees in Ottawa this weekend in separate incidents, each suffering serious injuries.

In the latest incident on Saturday night at around 11:30 p.m., a 13-year-old boy fell about 25 feet out of a tree in the backyard of his house, in the 400 block of Marlin Private. He suffered a concussion and back injuries in the fall and was transported to the Children’s Trauma Centre for treatment, where he was listed in serious condition.

A day earlier, at around 4:16 p.m. on Friday, a 12-year-old girl fell nearly 30 feet out of a tree at the intersection of Riverdale and Belmont, suffering multiple fractures that included a fractured pelvis. She was also was transferred to the trauma centre for treatment.
