Two young men are facing charges after two girls were allegedly assaulted with bear spray late Tuesday night in Dartmouth.

Halifax Regional Police said officers responded to a disturbance at Nantucket Avenue and Wyse Road just after 11:30 p.m., where they found two sisters had been attacked.

They said they had gone to a Courtney Street residence to confront an ex-boyfriend, but instead both were sprayed and one girl was knocked to the ground, according to police.

The girls were treated in hospital, police said, while the two suspects were arrested.

They were expected to be in court yesterday on charges of assault with a weapon, making death threats and breaching court orders.
