Two men are dead after a car drove off the road and plunged into a slough off Lougheed Highway near Agassiz early yesterday.
Lantze Joseph Paul, 21 and Daryl Francis Junior, 29, both from Agassiz, were killed in the crash.
Bystanders were able to pull a third passenger, a 21-year-old woman, to safety, and she was taken to hospital with minor injuries. One of the male victims was unaccounted for for several hours until search and rescue found his body submerged in the water.
RCMP Const. Lea-Anne Dunlop said the exact cause of the accident is still being investigated, but it appears alcohol and speed were contributing factors.
