Two men hurt after drive-by shooting in Surrey

Two men in their 20s were hospitalized after being hit in a drive-by shooting in Surrey.

The RCMP said the victims and two other passengers were in an SUV near 72nd Avenue and 132nd Street when another vehicle suddenly opened fire on them.

Insp. Dave Attfield said police received a call from one of the victims at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday to say he and a friend had been shot and they were on their way to hospital.

The hospital was placed under lockdown while the men were being treated.

“One victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries while the other person was treated and released,” Attfield said.

“The occupants of the vehicle were known to police and it is believed that this was a targeted shooting.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police.
