Two men in hospotal after Bridgwater stabbing

Two men were rushed to hospital after stabbing incidents in Bridgewater early yesterday.

The attacks occurred within five minutes of each other on King Street.

Police came upon a fight at 2:19 a.m. yesterday near Towne Flowers. The adult male victim was given first aid while police arrested a second person. Just five minutes later, police received a 9-1-1 call to the Dominion and King streets intersection a block away, where officers found a second stabbing victim.

Both victims were taken to hospital, where they underwent surgery. The detained man was later ruled out as a person of interest.

The first victim was in serious but stable condition yesterday and the second was listed in serious condition when he arrived at hospital. There was no update on his condition.

Sgt. John Collyer, acting deputy chief of Bridgewater police service, said police believe the attacks are connected.

“Both victims received stab wounds to the torso,” Collyer said yesterday. “We’re still looking into it.”

Neither of the victims were known to police, Collyer said.
