Hours after Calgary Police chief Rick Hanson vowed to put an end to the gang warfare in the city, two men were targeted in what police believe was a gang-related incident in the city’s northeast.
Police responded to the 100 block of Coral Shores Landing NE following reports that shots had been fired.
Two men were reportedly exiting a vehicle when an unknown suspect or suspects fired in their direction.
One man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound. Another man escaped injury and tried to flee in a vehicle, but got stuck in a snow bank.
District 5 GIU is leading the investigation, with the assistance of the CPS Gang Unit, Targeted Enforcement Unit and the Calgary Criminal Intelligence Unit.
