Police have charged two young people after investigating a hit-and-run collision in the city’s west end last week.

Police attended a call in the area of Dunbar Court and Bateman Drive for a report of a stolen vehicle involved in a minor hit-and-run collision.

Following a short pursuit, officers observed the two suspects run out of the back door of a residential unit and arrested them as they were trying to get into another unit.

Police later found a shotgun and ammunition that had been reported stolen from a break and enter in Clarendon, Que., earlier in the week in the home of one of the suspects.

The suspects face charges including possessing a firearm obtained by offence, unlawfully in dwelling house, possessing property obtained by crime over $5,000, possessing property obtained by crime under $5,000 and careless storage of firearm. Police here said they expect the Sûreté du Québec to lay more charges.

Two 16-year-old Ottawa males appear in court Dec. 1 and Feb. 12 respectively.
