An off duty American sailor used her thighs to fight off a would-be rapist
An off-duty U.S. Navy sailor on her way back to her ship in a Middle Eastern port, fended off a terrifying attempted rape by putting a stranglehold on her attacker, using her thighs.
The 28-year-old woman, who has not been identified, was attacked by a bus driver in a remote area of Dubai, she told court in the United Arab Emirates.
Her ship had docked in the nearby emirate of Sharjah, and she had gone into neighboring Dubai to do some shopping at one of the city’s mega-malls.
And instead of taking cab back to her ship, she opted for a bus. On the journey back to Sharjah the Pakistani driver pulled into a remote industrial area and pulled a knife on her, she told the court in Dubai.
The man ripped off her clothes and attempted to fondle her and a struggle ensued. It ended with the driver’s head and neck clamped between the sailor’s thighs. The woman escaped from the bus and reported the incident to her superiors.
When local police arrested the driver, he was found to be drunk. He told the court he had drunk so much on the day of the incident he could remember few details. But forensic experts found the woman’s hair and blood on the bus, and the driver’s semen on her clothing.
The case was adjourned until May 1.
