The UFC — the top mixed martial arts promotion in the world — seems to be headed to Vancouver next June, according to its president.

During a pre-fight press conference on Thursday for UFC 102, which is being held in Portland this Saturday, Dana White said it was a “done deal” to have an event in Vancouver.

He later said he spoke too soon, but reaffirmed the UFC’s commitment to bringing a promotion here.

UFC personnel met with B.C. Attorney General Mike de Jong on Wednesday and officials at GM Place the following day. The Garage would likely hold the event.

The only Canadian city to have held UFC events is Montreal, with the second card selling out in minutes.
