Ultimate girls’ day out

Dancing with the Stars and the Bachelor’s Jake Pavelka, Canadian singer-songwriter Joe Taylor and Ottawa’s own psychic medium Marc Jade are just a few of the celebrities making an appearance at the seventh annual National Women’s Show at Lansdowne Park this weekend.

Working women, students, stay-at-home moms and retirees may lead very different lives, but they all have one thing in common, said show spokeswoman Tanya Williams.

“Women don’t take enough time for themselves,” she said.

The event, billed as the ultimate girls’ day out, covers the spectrum of interests so that there is something for everyone, she said.

The show has 250 exhibits, as well as speakers, cooking demonstrations, mini makeovers, a fashion show, and a workshops stage where women can learn about networking for success, how to get into golfing, detoxifying your body and investing.

More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the show over two days. The show runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
