Calgary will soon be crawling with undead as the 2010 Zombie Walk hits city streets this weekend.

Organizer Laura J. Mac said she’s anticipating hundreds will show up for the walk on Saturday.

“There really isn’t (anything like it) in terms of a for-fun event,” said Mac.

“It’s really one of a kind.”

For this year’s walk, Mac said she’s encouraging participants to bring along a donation to the Calgary Inter-faith Food Bank, whether it’s food or cash.

“Last year we raised 400 pounds and $269, so our goal this year is to try and double that,” she said.

“If 1,000 people are going to get together anyway, why not help out a really great charity?”

First-time participant and former candidate for mayor Paul Hughes said he’s looking forward to expressing his creativity with his zombie ensemble.

“I’m an artist so I like the idea of that juxtaposition … to the crazy hustle and bustle of the City of Calgary.”

The walk starts at 2 p.m. in Olympic Plaza, and is open to the public.
