Dinner & drinks for two (Winterlicious price): $70

Ahh, Winterlicious. The frenzy hit the city again this year, running from Jan. 29 through Feb. 11. During the food fest, price fixed menus lure in the masses — and that included us.

A guest and I visited 93 Harbord, where dinner was $25 (plus tax and gratuity).

A great deal, but was it be worth it? Here’s how they did during the festival frenzy:

Decor & Space
Biscuit-coloured bricks line a long and lean space that goes back farther than you think. Soft lighting and minimalist furniture create a warm, modern space. The place was packed.

Menu
Fennel and Orange Salad with citrus vinaigrette was lovely and fresh with a tinge of smokiness. The Grilled Calamari with Turkish fig salsa was meager in both quantity (two small rings and a bit) and taste. Tagine of Spiced Chickpeas and Lamb and Shiraz Fig Tagine were fine, but disappointing. The lamb, however, was beautifully cooked pieces of red pepper and garlicky bok choy.

Service
Our server was running off his feet, but rarely to us. The chef, though, comes out to greet customers four times.

Conclusion
The night was a let down. Try it now that the frenzy of Winterlicious is over.
