A suspect arrested in connection with the death of a 58-year-old man will likely have his original charge upgraded to manslaughter, police say.
On July 7 at about 9:30 p.m., police were called to the 4700 block of 16 Avenue N.W. for reports of an altercation between two men.
When police arrived, a 58-year-old man was found with serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
Police believe the altercation erupted after the suspect asked for money from the victim. When he refused, the suspect punched the man.
Donald Gregg Foran died on July 16. An autopsy on Friday found he died as a result of blunt force trauma.
A 21-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested July 9 and was initially charged with aggravated assault.
His charge will likely be upgraded to manslaughter at his next court date, police say.
