Rescue crews returned to their search Friday morning looking for a woman who fell into the Bow River last night.
At about 7 p.m., the Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a woman in the river near the 10th Street Bridge along Memorial Drive.
Four witnesses were along the river bank when they heard a splash. They reported that the woman
was screaming help as she floated downstream.
One witness ran up to the bike path where she called 911while two others tried to follow the victim downstream.
During their pursuit, one of the witnesses fell into the river but made his way out safely. The other witness eventually lost sight of the woman.
About 30 firefighters were on scene, including six divers, searched in and along the ice shelves but found nothing.
The search continued for about two hours and was called off at dark.
No further details were released.
