Urban Loft, Cobourg, Ont., urbanloft.ca
Cobourg is the place to be this spring and summer. Beach? Check. Scenic marina? Check. Vibrant weekend scene? Another check.

“King Street is full of small boutiques, children’s stores, cafés, art galleries, clothing shops and more,” says Urban Loft owner Laverne Baker. Her chic’n’ cheerful decor shop has become one of the high points on the strip, thanks to its dynamic mix of contemporary furniture and delightful eye candy.

Condo living
Cobourg’s condo boom has inspired many of the items on offer at the 2,500 sq. ft. shop. One bestseller is a locally made Murphy bed, in twin to queen sizes and starting from $1,995 each.

The cabinet housing the bed is just the right height to mount a flat-screen TV or piece of art on the wall above. Much of the shop’s furniture is Canadian made and available in hundreds of fabric and leather choices to suit your fancy.

Going green
Green is gold at Urban Loft, where you can find bamboo towels and bedding from $10 each, as well as eco-friendly upholstery fabrics. Be sure to check out the display of ELT Living Walls, from $200 per kit, which convert vertical wall space into air-purifying indoor herb gardens or tropical rain forests. Looking to add a splash of colour to your home? Reach for no-VOC powdered milk paint from Homestead House Paint Company, $18 per bag.
