A new exhibit opening at the Vancouver Art Gallery on Friday explores the evolution of American and Canadian identity around the turn of the century through landscape paintings and photography.

Expanding Horizons features 175 artistic works from, among others, Winslow Homer, Georgia O’Keeffe and Tom Thomson.

The exhibit is divided into six thematic sections reflecting North Americans’ changing perception of, and relationship with, the natural world and their environment.
